Jokkmokk Winter Market Holiday combines Jokkmokk Winter Market with a range of winter activities and cultural experiences — and includes a stay at a hotel right in the heart of the market.
A deeper way to experience Jokkmokk Winter Market
This winter market attracts visitors from around the world who come to experience Sámi culture and life above the Arctic Circle.
But to truly experience it,
you need more than just a few hours.
This 6-day experience gives you the time to truly be part of it — while also exploring the Arctic landscape that surrounds it.
You stay comfortably at a hotel located right in the heart of the market area, with everything just outside your door.
Step straight into the atmosphere each morning — with everything well organized and within easy reach.
Accommodation like this, in the center of the market, is very limited and hard to secure.
Jokkmokk Winter Market — often simply referred to as Jokkmokk Market — dates back over 400 years, when people gathered here to trade fur, silver, and goods essential for life in the north. Today, it is one of Scandinavia’s most unique cultural events — a vibrant mix of Sámi traditions, crafts, food, exhibitions, and stories.
With this Jokkmokk Winter Market package, you don’t have to choose between the market and the Arctic wilderness — you get both, in a natural and well-balanced way.
During the week, you will:
– Experience Sámi culture in a personal and authentic setting
– Travel silently through the forest behind a team of sled dogs
– Search for wildlife in one of Europe’s last true wilderness areas
– Go out under the Arctic night sky, with real opportunities to see the Northern Lights
– Take part in a hands-on food workshop with local ingredients
– And still have generous time to explore the market at your own pace
All activities, transfers, meals, and accommodation are carefully coordinated to create a seamless experience — allowing you to focus fully on being present, rather than planning and organizing each step yourself.
We work in small groups and collaborate with carefully selected local partners who live and work here year-round. Throughout the week, you will also have access to a dedicated host, ensuring everything runs smoothly and helping you make the most of your stay.
This is a limited experience with few available spots — designed for guests who value authenticity, comfort, and a deeper connection to the place they visit.

Day-by-Day Itinerary – Jokkmokk Winter Market Holiday
Included meals marked each day with B=breakfast, L=lunch and D=dinner
Day 1 - Arrival in Jokkmokk & Sámi Experience (L, D)
Upon arrival, we gather for lunch together — a chance to meet your host and the rest of the group. You will receive an introduction to the week ahead and have time to settle in.
After lunch, those who have rented winter clothing will try on boots and outerwear to ensure everything fits properly.
In the late afternoon, we visit Anna Kuhmunen from a local reindeer herding family. Here, you will gain insight into Sámi culture, meet the reindeer, and share a traditional Sámi dinner in a cozy and personal setting.
Tip: To avoid any risk of missing the pickup due to travel delays, we recommend arriving in Luleå the day before and booking an extra night.
Day 2 - Dog Sledding, Market Opening & Northern Lights (B, L, D)
After breakfast, you will meet us — Matti & Stina — at our sled dog kennel.
One of the highlights of this Jokkmokk Winter Market tour is experiencing dog sledding in the forests around Jokkmokk. Together with our huskies, you travel through the winter landscape and stop along the way to make a fire, enjoy a warm meal, and spend time outdoors.
In the afternoon, you will have some free time to explore Ájtte – principal museum of Sami Culture and the Mountain region.
Later in the day, the town comes alive as Jokkmokk Winter Market officially opens.
In the evening, a snowmobile takes you out into the surrounding landscape for a Northern Lights tour, where we gather in a heated tent for dinner while watching the Arctic sky.
Note: The order of activities during Days 2–5 may vary depending on weather conditions and group size.
Day 3 - Full Day at Jokkmokk Winter Market (B,D)
After breakfast, your host will present highlights and recommendations before you head out to explore. The market offers traditional handicrafts, local food, exhibitions, lectures, and concerts.
Lunch is on your own at the market.
In the evening, we gather for dinner at Arvas Food Studio, where local ingredients are prepared by the chef and presented together with the stories behind the dishes.
Day 4 - Market & Food Workshop (B, L, D)
Around midday, we meet for a food workshop with Caisa Isaksson. This experience gives deeper insight into traditional Sámi culture and local food traditions in northern Sweden, with a focus on ingredients, herbs, and cooking methods from the region.
After the workshop, you will have more time to enjoy the market before dinner at a local restaurant.
Day 5 - Wildlife Watching & Final Evening (B, L, D)
This wildlife watching experience gives you the chance to see these impressive animals in their natural winter habitat. During winter, the moose move down from the mountains into the forest east of Sarek National Park, where we visit areas where they are often seen.
In the afternoon, you have more time at the market before we gather for a final dinner together.
Day 6 - Departure from Jokkmokk (B)
Your Jokkmokk Winter Market trip ends with arrival at the train station around 12:00.

Tour Reviews
PROFESSIONAL, HIGH VALUE EXPERIENCE! (review fr TripAdvisor)
We built our Scandinavian vacation around this Winter Market Tour. We couldn’t have made a better decision! The activities were well planned and representative of the culture, geography and the season. The tour guides, Mirja and Christian, provided wonderful experiences either directly or by partnering with others in the area with specific skills and knowledge. This produced a memorable learning experience. We highly recommend this tour specifically but in general any product they offer. You can book with confidence! /Pioneer254043
