The afternoon is free to be able to join any activity available on the digital winter market or time to just get familiar with Jokkmokk town. A nice dinner will be served at the guesthouse.

Day 3 - Dog sled tour and Flavor show (B,L,D)

After breakfast you will be picked up by car and go to the kennel just outside Jokkmokk. You will meet our friendly huskies and go out on a dog sled tour experiencing the winter landscape around Jokkmokk. During the tour we stop to barbecue pork, sausages and boil coffee over an open fire.

In the afternoon you will enjoy a flavor show and gastronomic experience with local produce, guided by Eva Gunnare, a local food connoisseur.

Day 4 - Searching for the Sarek moose and Northern light evening (B, L, D)

After breakfast we head out with minibuses searching for the great Sarek moose. Protected from the yearly hunting season the Sarek moose grow bigger than its relatives. In the winter, they migrate down to the forest area east of Sarek National Park where they find food and protection from the harsh environment in the mountain. We take you to some of the moose’s favorite places.

After the dinner a snowmobile will take you on a northern lights tour and drive you outside Jokkmokk, where we have a fire and glance to the sky, hoping to see the northern lights. The fire has provided people with safety and heat for thousands of years.

Day 5 - Sámi Experience (B,L,D)

We start the day with breakfast buffet at the guesthouse. Today we will visit our friend Anna Kuhmunen who comes from a local reindeer herding family. You will meet their reindeers and listen to stories from Anna’s life and culture, and taste traditional Sámi food.

In the afternoon you will have some time on your own to either explore the town or visit Ájtte – principal museum of Sami culture and the mountain region, which we highly recommend. Or try the sauna at the guesthouse.
In the evening we gather for final dinner together.

The activities during day 3-5 can be switch around depending on the size of the group and the weather conditions.

Tour Reviews

21 February, 2020

We built our Scandinavian vacation around this Winter Market Tour. We couldn’t have made a better decision! The activities were well planned and representative of the culture, geography and the season. The tour guides, Mirja and Christian, provided wonderful experiences either directly or by partnering with others in the area with specific skills and knowledge. This produced a memorable learning experience. We highly recommend this tour specifically but in general any product they offer. You can book with confidence! /Pioneer254043
